Jazz has become one of the most well known styles, recently made popular throughout movies, music videos and television shows. This is a fun and energetic class involving challenging footwork, turns and leaps. A good basis in Jazz allows dancers to easily adapt to a range of other dance styles.
Classical ballet instils a foundation of technique, strong posture & good alignment. Working on the elongation of the muscles to form control of movement. Ballet is the foundation style, helping students to excel in all other areas of their dance classes.
Contemporary is an expressive dance style developing techniques such as body alignment, contraction, release, suspension and centering. While many techniques are drawn from classical ballet, contemporary allows a greater range and fluidity of movement using the body’s natural lines and energy. This class is available for students from 8 years and up.
Developing your core strength and flexibility is essential in the basis of technique for all dance styles. With these fundamental areas of the body developed well, dancers will find challenging jumps, leaps and choreography much more achievable, allowing them to focus on the performance aspect of dance. This class is available for students from 10 years and up.
Boys Hip Hop is an upbeat and active class allowing young boys to explore their passion for dance in a comfortable environment.
Musical Theatre allows students to study the art of ‘Live Theatre’, providing tuition in dancing, singing and acting in the one class.
Acrobatics at CAPA is a fun, performance based art form that will enable students to develop an array of acrobatic tricks and skills. Students will focus on tumbling skills, balance skills, strength, core stability, flexibility and technique. All levels welcome.
Tiny Tots is an introductory class for dancers 3-4 years of age, aiming to develop fundamental techniques such a musicality, coordination, rhythm and working well in a class environment.
Tap is a form of dance characterised by using the sound of your tap shoes hitting the floor as a percussive instrument. You use your feet like drums to create rhythmic patterns & timely beats to the music. It is an energetic form of dance that is fun for all ages.
We offer School Holiday Workshops throughout the January, April, July, September and December School Holidays for students aged 5-11 years. Over three days the students participate in a diverse range of workshops, studying styles such as ballet, jazz, contemporary, musical theatre, acrobatics, ballroom, hip hop, student choreography and more! The workshops are held from 9:00am-3:00pm for the three days and are only $150 per student. This is a great way for students to try new dance styles and keep active over the holidays.
Experience is not required for our workshops and students who do not attend regular classes at CAPA are welcome too!
